Volunteer With Us:
Dartmouth Family Centre encourages the involvement of volunteers throughout the organization.
We value and appreciate the role of volunteers in supporting the Centre to carry out its mission.
Volunteer at the Centre
Volunteering at Dartmouth Family Centre:
The Centre's volunteer program supports participants to become involved in the Centre in a volunteer role. Orientation, training, and ongoing support helps participants to develop their skills as a volunteer. Participant volunteers support the community drop-in room, child development programs, parenting workshops/programs, maintaining public spaces, baking snacks for children, organizing the community cupboard, administrative support, etc. Not all opportunities are available at all times. If you are interested in volunteering at the Centre please fill out an application or talk to Centre staff about your interest.
Volunteering at the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre:
The Community Food Centre relies on volunteer support to offer over 45 program sessions each month to hundreds of community members. In 2017, our small staff of 4 worked with 147 different volunteers including university students, community members, professionals, and retirees. We are always looking for volunteers who are interested in supporting the Centre in one of the following areas:
• Meal Prep/Cooking
• Co-facilitating cooking sessions with adults or youth
• Urban farming
• Drop-in and coffee station support
• Market preparation (packing veggies, chopping, setting up the physical space)
If you’re considering becoming a volunteer, we invite you to attend a Volunteer Information Session!
This is the first step to becoming a volunteer at the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre.
This session provides an overview of the Centre, our volunteer opportunities, information about time commitments, and an opportunity to ask questions.
Our Volunteer Information Sessions are for individuals over the age of 16.
If you are interested in attending a session, please call Genevieve at 902-464-8234, ext. 239
