Volunteer with Us

Volunteers are the heart of the Dartmouth Family Centre/Dartmouth North Community Food Centre. We currently have approximately 95 active volunteers including community members, students, professionals, and retirees. Volunteers help us with program facilitation, food preparation, serving meals, clean-up, helping out on the farm, supporting parenting programs, childcare and more.

See our current list of volunteer opportunities here to see what fits with your schedule and interests.

Commitment Required:
1 shift/week (approx. 3 hours) for 4 months.

Times:
Most of our volunteer opportunities are during weekday mornings and early afternoons, with some exceptions.

Screening:
People who are interested in becoming a volunteer with us will have to complete a Child Abuse Registry check with the Department of Community Services. For more information visit their website. Please note that the Child Abuse Registry check takes 2-4 weeks to complete. Some roles (not all) will also require a Criminal Record Check.
